Ah the famous Skagg's Springs Road. A road that is legendary among Northern California's motorcyclists. The SoCal boys have Ortega Hwy, we have Skagg's. The route I planned just to get to the base of Skagg's would have been a great ride in itself, so Skagg's ended up being a very special icing to top the cake.
I met up with Joel Ancheta and Doug Horne at the Mickey D's off Mission Blvd/680 in Fremont at 8am. We then headed north to meet up with Shawn Pouliiotte in Cordelia at the 680/80 intersection. Chris Cannon showed up in Cordelia as well but wasn't able to join us on the ride. Instead he came out so we could check out his new Skarkskins body work, tail hugger, and Akrapovic full system. Sweet!!
From Cordelia we went up Suisun Valley Road to Hwy 121. From 121 we jumped onto 128 then hit Lower Chili Valley Road then Pope Valley to Butt Canyon Road which dropped us in Middletown along Hwy 29. After lunch we went south on 29 to hook up to 128 again which led us northwest to Geyserville. From Geyserville its just a few more miles to Skagg's Springs Road which starts at the southern end of Lake Sonoma.
Skagg's was just as I remembered it. Fast, smooth, and very scenic. The 30mph signs are a bit unnerving but we still rode a brisk pace and had a great time.
